Caredoc's AI Engine Tackles Korea's Widening Elder Care Gap

SEOUL, South Korea — Caredoc, an integrated senior care startup based in South Korea, has entered its AI-powered caregiver-matching platform for consideration in the CES 2027 Innovation Awards.

The platform is designed to close a widening gap in the country’s long-term care system: according to Caredoc’s Elder Care Gap Index, 89% of South Korea’s seniors are potentially at risk of long-term care gaps, driven by shortages of care workers and a fragmented service structure.

At the core of the platform is an AI-powered caregiver-matching engine that selects from more than 80,000 verified caregivers, completing matches in three steps within an average of 1.4 hours.

Unlike generative AI systems, the engine is deterministic and fully auditable, producing the same result for the same input before safety rules are applied. It ranks applicants on a 100-point scale using 22 health and care variables, tagging each candidate for expertise and suitability to the required level of care.

Where conventional caregiving services in Korea typically provide only a list of candidates, Caredoc manages the entire service journey — from requests and matching to contracts, payments, reviews and feedback — within a single web-based platform that requires no app download.

The technology is protected by two Korean patents. “Personalized Caregiving Guide Information Method and System” powers instructions tailored to each user’s condition, while “Method and Apparatus for Dynamically Suggesting Prices Related to Senior Life Care” underpins Caredoc’s Recommended Care Fee, which shows users and caregivers the same fee benchmark based on location, care complexity and working conditions.

Caredoc says the model has helped users save up to 20% on caregiving costs when transitioning to in-home care.

After each engagement, care logs, user feedback and rematch preferences feed back into the platform’s dataset through a continuous loop, drawing on more than KRW 300 billion (approx. US $216 million) in cumulative transaction data to refine future matches.

Caredoc reported KRW 15 billion (approx. US$10.8 million) in revenue in 2025, serves more than 10,000 customers monthly on average, and is currently raising a pre-IPO funding round.

The company also operates Facility Finder, an aggregator of nationwide care-facility listings, and is expanding into in-home care, aging-in-place services and senior housing, including AIP-based “Active Recovery Care” rehabilitation packages under its Carehome brand.

Caredoc says the underlying matching technology can be adapted for other markets using local care data.
